Patrick Kinsella lectures in journalism at Dublin City University, and is chairman of the BA in Journalism programme there. He began his career as economics correspondent in RTE, where he rose to programme editor of the main nightly TV news bulletin. In 1988 he moved to London, joining the staff of the BBC as a TV news producer and later as reporter on the Radio 4 Today programme. He joined DCU in 1995. Patrick was awarded the Rotary International Journalism Fellowship in 1979, and studied at the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California, Berkeley. In 1996 he coordinated an international project to establish an independent television network in Bosnia. He has served as an elected officer of the National Union of Journalists as a local representative and on the National Executive Council. He continues to freelance for various broadcasters and newspapers, and is vice president of the International Journalists' Ski Club.
